MEMPHIS, TENN. (AP) - Sam Querrey beat seventh-seeded Kevin Anderson 7-6 (4), 6-4 on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships.
Querrey, the tournament’s 2010 tournament and a wild card entry this week, will face No. 3 seed Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic, who defeated American Ryan Sweeting 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Querrey, who entered the week ranked 99th in the world, is on a climb back up the rankings after right elbow surgery last June.
Top-seeded John Isner was scheduled to play in Thursday night’s featured match against fellow American Donald Young.
Others moving to the quarterfinals were Lukasz Kubot of Poland and Jurgen Melzer of Austria.
