More than 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 each day. It is painfully apparent that we must do something about Alzheimer’s disease now.
A national strategic plan should be a priority for our politicians so we can curtail the role of this disease in the lives of Americans. Today, nearly 15 million friends and family members are providing care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Every day in this country, families shoulder the tremendous emotional, physical and financial toll of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s. My grandmother suffered and died from the disease, and it completely changed my family forever.
We are at a critical juncture in time when the creation of a strategic plan to address the escalating Alzheimer’s crisis is within our grasp - but now we need the nation’s leaders to make a commitment to coming up with a plan to combat it.
