Wallace family heals through golf

- Associated Press - Tuesday, July 10, 2012

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Golf has become the guiding light for the Wallace family, helping them repair their lives and get through very difficult times.

Christopher and Jonathan Wallace are not out just playing 18 holes a day, they're part of a growing number of military veterans learning the golf business in hopes the game becomes their next career.

The Wallace brothers and their father, George, are enrolled at the Golf Academy of America.

George Wallace says "golf has become part of our therapy ... We're getting our lives back, little by little."

Mike Betz of the Education Corporation of America says that's happening more and more with troops returning home. Betz is general manager of the military student initiative at ECA, parent company for the five golf academies located around the country.
