COLUMBIA, S.C. — Michelin voluntarily recalled around 841,000 BFGoodrich and Uniroyal tires Thursday because the tread can separate, causing rapid air loss.
No deaths or injuries have been reported from the tires, which were made as replacement tires for commercial light trucks and full-sized heavy duty vans from April 2010 until early this year, according to the company.
J.C. Penney tweaks pricing strategy again
NEW YORK — J.C. Penney is changing its pricing, again.
Just six months after the midpriced department store chain got rid of the hundreds of sales it offered each year in favor of everyday lower pricing, it is reversing course.
Penney on Feb. 1 began using a three-tier pricing approach that called for consistently lower daily prices, month-long sales and periodic discounts on merchandise throughout the year. But starting Aug. 1, Penney will eliminate one of the monthly sales and bring back the word "clearance." Penney also plans to tweak its advertising to better communicate the pricing plan to customers.

Ford to recall 485,000 small SUVs to fix throttles
DETROIT — Ford is recalling nearly 485,000 Escape and Mavericks to fix sticking gas pedals that can cause crashes.
The worldwide recall affects the 2001 through 2004 model years that are powered by 3-liter V-6 engines with cruise control. It comes just more than a week after U.S. safety regulators began investigating the small SUVs, which are called Mavericks in Europe.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 68 complaints about the problem, including 13 crashes, nine injuries and one death. A teenage girl died when an Escape crashed in Arizona in January.
