LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Judiciary tyranny threatens a free people

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, July 3, 2012

"[T]he discretion of the judge is the first engine of tyranny." So wrote historian Edward Gibbon in his famous history of the Roman Empire. As we Americans once again celebrate our nation's birthday today, we desperately need to understand the truth of this observation as it applies to us.

In America today, our Constitution and our culture are being subjugated to this "first engine of tyranny." Reconstructionists in the form of liberal judges advocating a humanistic worldview have exercised their discretion day in and day out to "define and destroy" our core constitutional guarantees and fundamental social institutions.

We must understand and act upon the truth that the views and values of our Founding Fathers were diametrically opposed to the values of modern reconstruction's judicial tyranny. This tyranny feeds on a radical theory of the Constitution that is ferociously promoted by judges at the state and federal levels and defended by the media. We must curb the courts.

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, let us beware of judges who think they know better than "we the people."
