Mystics lose nail-biter to Mercury 80-77
PHOENIX — Sammy Prahalis scored seven of her 15 points in the final 2:02 and made a tiebreaking layup with 23 seconds left and the Phoenix Mercury got past the Washington Mystics 80-77 on Wednesday night.
Officials called the Mystics for a jump ball violation on the ensuing jump with 1.5 seconds left. Krystal Thomas made a free throw for the final margin.
Down 74-69 with 2:26 left, Prahalis and DeWanna Bonner hit back-to-back 3-pointers within 33 seconds for the Mercury. Washington’s Crystal Langhorne then missed an 18-footer with 44 seconds left, setting up the Mercury’s winning possession.
