Every day it becomes more apparent that our president's plan for re-election is to coalesce minorities and single-issue extremists in a war against the uncooperative majority.
During the past several months, President Obama has attempted to ally with environmentalists by rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline and overregulating the production of fossil fuels while wasting taxpayer funds on green energy. He has tried to ally with female voters by trampling on religious liberty in forcing insurance coverage for contraception. He has sought out the votes of homosexuals and lesbians by supporting same-sex marriage, courted unions by asking for more funding of public-sector jobs and tried to prevent construction of a nonunion Boeing Co. plant in South Carolina. He also has attempted to woo the Hispanic vote by changing immigration law via executive fiat.
While our president is busy assuaging minorities and special-interest groups, playing golf for the 100th time and setting a record for the number of fundraisers he has attended, he offers no programs or policies to solve the issues destroying the country.
As long as minorities and special-interest groups get their piece of the pie, they are expected to accept the Democrats' rhetoric that the economy is getting better; unemployment could be far worse; and entitlement programs, national debt and budget deficits are all problems for later.
Mr. Obama fooled most of the people when he was elected in 2008, and he continues to fool some of the people all of the time. The question is, will he be able to fool enough of the people to gain re-election in November?
