Jaguars WR Blackmon faces charge of aggravated DUI
STILLWATER, Okla. — Authorities in Oklahoma say Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested on an aggravated DUI charge after he allegedly had three times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
Blackmon, 22, a former Oklahoma State star, was arrested early Sunday morning. The Jaguars drafted Blackmon with the fifth pick in this year’s NFL draft in the hopes that he could upgrade the league’s worst offense.
HOUSTON — The Houston Astros have placed first baseman Carlos Lee on the 15-day disabled list because of a left hamstring strain and recalled infielder Brett Wallace from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Lee (.297, 4 HR,, 23 RBI) has played in 49 of Houston’s 54 games.
• The Colorado Rockies have placed right-hander Juan Nicasio (2-3, 5.28 ERA) on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left knee and recalled righty Guillermo Moscoso from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Olympic gold medalist Johnson decides to retire
The knee injury that sparked Shawn Johnson’s comeback put an end to it, too. The four-time Olympic gold medalist at Beijing in 2008 announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics Sunday, four days before the start of the U.S. championships.
She has had repeated setbacks with her left knee, seriously damaged in a January 2010 ski accident, and she feared she was putting her long-term health at risk by attempting to make a second Olympic team.View Entire Story
