TV host Toure wins prize for his motivational book

NEW YORK (AP) - Author and television host Toure (too-RAY') has won a literary prize for his motivational book "Who's Afraid of Post-Blackness?"

Toure was among the winners announced Monday in 10 self-help categories for a Book for a Better Life Award. The awards were presented at a fundraising event sponsored by the Southern New York Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Toure hosts the Fuse network's "Hip Hop Shop." He won for best motivational book.

Other winners included Alexandra Robbins' "The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth" for psychology and Donna M. Johnson's "Holy Ghost Girl" for best spiritual book.

Ted Danson's "Oceana" and a book co-authored by Goldie Hawn called "10 Mindful Minutes" were among the finalists.

The awards were founded in 1996.
