Platini yet to get apology from England’s Richards

ISTANBUL (AP) - Michel Platini has not received a promised apology from Premier League chairman Dave Richards, who described FIFA and UEFA last week as “gangs” who “stole football” from England.

Platini, who is UEFA president and a FIFA vice president, was asked about Richards‘ proposed apology following UEFA's Congress on Thursday, saying: “Maybe it got lost in the corridors of UEFA.”

Richards was expected at the gathering in Istanbul, but did not attend.

He criticized FIFA and UEFA at a sports conference in Qatar.

Platini says “we are not a gang,” and thanks England for generously spreading soccer as a “gift to the world.”

The French official adds: “When they have given it, they no longer own it.”
