NEW YORK (AP) - Gavin Creel will be on board when the national tour of “The Book of Mormon” kicks off this summer.
Producers announced Thursday that Creel, a two time Tony Award-nominee for “Hair” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” will star as Elder Price, the role currently played by Andrew Rannells on Broadway.
The tour starts in Denver on Aug. 14 and will travel to more than 15 cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Des Moines, Minneapolis and St. Louis. A second national tour starts in December in Chicago.
The wildly popular musical _ the brainchild of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of “South Park,” and Robert Lopez, who co-wrote “Avenue Q” _ won nine Tony Awards, including best musical.
