Was anyone really surprised to read about the shocking goings-on at Metro (“Inept get promoted, … capable get buried,” Page 1, Tuesday)? It’s just business as usual in the politically corrupt capital city.

Sadly, a number of people had loved ones taken from them in the 2009 Metro accident in which nine were killed. There should be a thorough investigation into Metro’s hiring and firing policies, as well as into its crony practices of partiality and preference with regard to promotions. Also an investigation should made into the union that represents them.

I thank The Washington Times for revealing this awful story of corruption, cover-up and cronyism - and hope that the Metro hierarchy and Amalgamated Transit Union 689 are held responsible so that justice is done. People lied and people died. This ought not happen in America.
