The body of a 64-year-old man who has been missing since Oct. 24 was discovered Sunday afternoon by someone walking near a creek in the Mount Vernon area.
Mohammad Sharif Yazdani’s body was discovered at about 2:45 p.m. near the 7700 block of Audubon Meadow Way, according to Fairfax County police. No signs of foul play were found, and the Office of the Medical Examiner has preliminarily determined that the cause of death was accidental drowning.
Yazdani’s relatives first reported that he walked away from their residence on the 3800 block of Havenwood Place late afternoon on Oct. 24, police said. At the time, Fairfax County police issued an alert about Yazdani, which said he may appear to be confused and disoriented. Relatives told police that Yazdani frequently walked in the Alexandria area of Richmond Highway.
