George Washington beats Boston U. 72-59

BOSTON (AP) — Joe McDonald scored 21 points and George Washington used a strong first half to pull away from Boston University in a 72-59 win on Saturday.

McDonald was the only player to score in double figures for the Colonials (1-1), who led most of the contest. George Washington went on a 7-0 run capped by McDonald's layup with 6:34 left in the first half to take a 30-19 lead.

McDonald finished the game with seven rebounds, shot 6 of 9 from the floor and made all eight of his free throw attempts for the Colonials. Isaiah Armwood pitched in with a game-high 12 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

George Washington went into halftime with a 37-23 lead, thanks to a jumper by Armwood. The Colonials took their largest lead of the contest at 43-23 when McDonald knocked down two free throws with 18:23 remaining.

Dom Morris scored 14 points for the Terriers (0-3).
