LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Rice unfit for higher office

In reading "Obama, GOP clash on Benghazi, Rice" (Web, Nov. 14), it occurred to me that the president has been acting like a schoolboy defending his little sister after school because some students had made fun of her in class.

Surely, a person who rises to serve as our United Nations ambassador such as Susan E. Rice should be able to defend herself against criticism from any quarters. If she does need the president to "stick up" for her, maybe she doesn't have the temperament for higher office.

Actually, it makes me wonder if the president didn't feel a little guilty about sending Mrs. Rice to appear on those Sunday TV programs with information that he has himself contradicted.
