BOSTON (AP) — Six people were taken the hospital and more than 20 others were evaluated at the scene after a trolley bumped into the rear of another in a Boston subway station on Thursday, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said.
“T” spokesman Joe Pesaturo said there was no derailment and no visible damage to either two-car trolley after the slow-speed accident just before noon on Thursday in the Boylston Street station.
One of the injured, he said, was the driver of the second trolley. He estimated that between 100 and 200 passengers were on board the two trains.
EMTs set up a triage area outside the station, and broadcast reports showed some people on backboards with neck braces.
The station was closed during the investigation. Mr. Pesaturo said the T hopes to have station reopened in time for the evening commute.
