LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Where have all the stickers gone?

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, October 16, 2012

We are three weeks from the most important election in our lifetimes. Where are the stickers and magnets on our car bumpers? The presidential election used to be the Super Bowl of politics, a time when Americans proudly displayed their preferences and loyalty to their chosen team.

It is risky nowadays to display your preferences. Put a sticker with Mitt Romney's name on your truck's bumper and you might not get that painting job in that affluent suburb. Some people will not be friendly to you. Some will call you racist -- yes, racist -- just because you happen to disagree with leftist policies of our president, who happens to be black.

Where are all those people who would display their desire that America should remain America? Don't they have the guts of their predecessors, who made their country the "shining city upon a hill"? Don't they have the courage to take a stand? The Obama machine has divided us as never before. One way or another, it is our duty to display our choices, to show which side of the fence we stand on. America, our nation is worth a bumper sticker.
