D.C. police on Wednesday afternoon recovered the body of a man found floating in the Anacostia River near the 11th Street Bridge.
Someone called police around 1:20 p.m. to report seeing a body in the river, and police responded to the area near the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. The man’s body was found close to the shoreline underneath the 11th Street Bridge, said Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Officer Araz Alali.
It was not clear how long the man’s body had been in the water, but police were investigating the cause and manner of his death.
