Phillip Phillips will sing Game 1 national anthem

“American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips will sing the national anthem before Game 1 of the World Series.

The series between Detroit and San Francisco opens Wednesday night in San Francisco.

Demi Lovato, Zooey Deschanel and Matthew Morrison also are set to sing the anthem in the series.

Morrison will sing before Game 2 on Thursday night, Deschanel for Game 3 on Saturday night, and Lovato for Game 4 on Sunday night. If there is a Game 5, it will be played Monday night, and Aretha Franklin will perform.

Morrison is an Emmy-nominated actor known for his role on “Glee.” Deschanel stars in the hit TV show “New Girl.” Lovato is a pop star and judge on “The X Factor.”
