Metro will be restoring limited service on its rail and bus lines at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The mass transit system had been shut down in anticipation of the storm since Monday morning.
“Metro weathered the storm very well,” spokeswoman Caroline Lukas said on Tuesday morning. “We had minor water infiltration, minor debris on lines, but nothing to keep us from limited service this afternoon.”
Metro trains and buses will be running on a normal Sunday schedule Tuesday afternoon until closing time. Ms. Lukas said that the regular schedule will resume on Wednesday morning, in time for morning rush hour.
The limited train service on Tuesday is both to ensure that there is no damage that could impact service and because federal offices are closed, which decreases train ridership.
