Aaron, Andrew Harrison spurn Maryland, commit to Kentucky

Aaron and Andrew Harrison, twin brothers who were Maryland’s top recruiting targets for the class of 2013, committed to Kentucky on Thursday.

Kentucky and Maryland were the primary suitors for the 6-foot-4 guards from Richmond, Texas. The twins --- Aaron is a shooting guard and Andrew is a point guard --- are consensus top-four recruits nationally. Aaron Harrison is ranked No. 2 nationally by Scout, 247Sports and ESPN.

Had the two opted for Maryland, it would have likely elevated the Terrapins into Final Four contention in 2013-14 and would have provided the program with its most noteworthy recruiting coup in decades.

Instead, coach Mark Turgeon will have to recalibrate his program’s recruiting attention to fill out a class that will arrive next year.
