Good Samaritans: Teens return lost bag of cash with $85K inside

- The Washington Times - Thursday, April 11, 2013

Talk about good Samaritans. Two teens riding aboard a Norwegian train had their truth and honesty meter put to full test this week, as they found a bag of cash left on a nearby seat.

"When I opened the bag, the first think I saw were these wads and wads of bills," said one of the teens, 16, in a report from Agence France-Presse.

His first reaction? Not to keep it — but "to call the police," he said.

They delved deeper into the bag — which contained $81,500, all in cash — and found the owner's passport, AFP said. The owner, an elderly man in his 70s, was called to retrieve the cash at police headquarters, AFP said.

The train had been make a run between Oslo and a small southeastern Norway town, AFP said. Police cited in the report said they don't suspect the owner of the cash committed any crime.
