Delaware’s Christine O’Donnell keeps doors open for political run

- The Washington Times - Thursday, April 18, 2013

Former U.S. Senate hopeful and tea party favorite Christine O'Donnell isn't shutting the door on a future run for office.

Her supporters are pushing her back on the campaign trail and see 2014 as a viable opportunity, according to Roll Call.

At issue is the health of her parents, said Matthew Moran, her former campaign manager.

"We hear from Christine's supporters everyday that they want her to run again," he said in an email to Roll Call. "However, both her parents faced serious illness this past year so she won't be making a decision about 2014 until they are in the clear."

Ms. O'Donnell set political tongues wagging during her Senate run with a 2010 campaign ad in which she proclaimed, "I'm not a witch … I'm you." She also struggled with tax and debt issues during her campaign, ultimately losing to Democrat Chris Coons.

Still, tea partiers found her rise significant. Largely unknown, she rose to prominence on a platform of limited government to beat then-Rep. Mike Castle in the Republican primary.
