Two men were arrested Monday in Canada after a cross-border operation thwarted a major terrorist attack, authorities said.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Monday that Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser, who live in Montreal and Toronto areas, were conspiring to carry out an al Qaeda-supported attack against Via Rail, but posed no immediate threat, according to the Associated Press.
Canada's national police agency will hold a news conference Monday to give details of the alleged plot, Reuters reported.
Officials said the suspects have no connection to the Boston Marathon bombings last week.
