Spain arrests suspect in massive cyberattack

- The Washington Times - Monday, April 29, 2013

Police in Spain say they've caught the suspect responsible for the biggest cyberattack in the nation's history, a 35-year-old Dutch man who traveled in a van that was equipped as a mobile office.

Authorities have not released his name, CNN reported. And the photo that was released is intentionally blurred and does not detail his face.

But the arrest — made last week, but announced on Monday — marks what Spanish authorities hail as a win in the war on cyberterrorism. The suspect is believed to have launched the massive computer attack that slowed Internet service around the globe.

Security experts called the attack tops in terms of its sophistication, as it targetd the infrastructure of the Web, rather than just servers, CNN reported.

He was arrested just north of Barcelona, CNN said.
