Even Toronto Mayor Rob Ford – under fire for weeks now for admitting he smoked crack cocaine – said Redskins’ head coach Mike Shanahan has poorly handled the benching of quarterback Robert Griffin III.

“It’s a little chaotic, if you ask me,” the embattled Toronto mayor said Thursday morning, to The Sports Junkies on 106.7 the Fan.

Kirk Cousins will start Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons instead, and likely keep the starting quarterback role for the remainder of the season. The announcement only fuels further talks of the ongoing power struggle between Mr. Shanahan and Redskins’ owner Dan Snyder.

USA Today opined: “That’s why Shanahan’s doing it – he’s trying to torch every bridge on his way out of town. This is the way he thumbs his nose at Daniel Snyder while trying to get the $7 million he’s owed next year. It’s genius!”
