ANALYSIS/OPINION:

The world sanctions against trading with Iran were causing the Iranians to turn against their government, which continues to spend much-needed cash on nuclear-arms development. The economy was tanking, and the citizens were close to another uprising like the one that overthrew the shah.

Now President Obama eases sanctions, which allows Iran to sell oil to raise money to ease the economic crisis and to appease the citizens of Iran so they won’t rise up against the Iranian leaders. Mr. Obama makes it easier for Iran to develop nuclear weapons without upsetting its own citizens. Smooth move.
