A group affiliated with leftist billionaire George Soros that had declared a war on Fox News now has called off the dogs, saying the network is no longer a threat.

“It’s not just that [the war is] over, but it was very successful,” Media Matters Executive Vice President Angelo Carusone said to The Huffington Post. “To a large extent, we won.”

The activist group — under the leadership of David Brock — had made it a rallying cry to take down Fox News and bury the cable network’s ratings behind perceived competitors MSNBC and CNN. Fox recently has made key show changes, and Media Matters is cheering the programming moves, saying that the cable network is now no threat to the White House, Newsmax reported. Media Matters also says the Internet and social media have helped topple Fox from its leading force in the news field.

But Fox, while not commenting on the recent Media Matters statements, nonetheless has maintained a steady lead over other broadcast news networks on the trust factor. A recent poll indicated that viewers thought Fox News was to be trusted most for up-to-date information on Obamacare, besting other news networks by far, Newsmax reported.
