ANALYSIS/OPINION:

President John F. Kennedy’s PT boat was not sunk by a torpedo. It was cut in half by a Japanese destroyer while Kennedy and his crew slumbered (“The List: Facts about President John F. Kennedy’s love of sports,” Web, Nov. 19).

In fact, Kennedy was to be put up for a court martial, but his father and loads of cash convinced politicians to persuade the secretary of the Navy otherwise. Thus the charges were dropped. But they were not forgotten.

The same politicians convinced a corrupt Navy to give Kennedy the medals. Kennedy was not a hero.
