The manhunt for suspected cop-turned-killer Christopher Dorner continues, and police are actively investigating tips and sighting alerts they received in the hours after offering a $1 million reward for information leading to his arrest.
Police over the weekend acted on one tip and evacuated a Lowe's home improvement store in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, according to The Associated Press. A search of the store turned up nothing, however.
Residents are terrified; some say they now keep their children inside and refuse to walk their dogs, AP reports.
Mr. Dorner, a former officer with the L.A. Police Department and a Navy veteran — who earned a rifle marksman ribbon and pistol expert medal — is wanted for killing a couple last weekend. On Thursday, he allegedly engaged in a shootout with police, killing one officer and wounding another, AP reports.
Snow has complicated the search; police have turned to the public for assistance.
