Homeless man returns lost ring worth thousands

A homeless man in Kansas City returned an engagement ring worth thousands after a woman accidentally dropped it into his change cup.

Sarah Darling dropped what she thought was a handful of change into Billy Ray Harris‘ change cup. She walked off and nearly an hour later the man found the platinum ring in the cup, The Daily Mail reports.

“The ring was so big that I knew if it was real, it was expensive,” Mr. Harris told Kansas City’s KCTV5.

Miss Darling didn’t realize until next day that the ring was missing, so she returned to Mr. Harris‘ spot on The Plaza and asked him if he had anything valuable of hers. He immediately returned the ring to her.

“It seemed like a miracle. I thought for sure there was no way I would get it back,” Miss Darling said. The Mail reports that she gave Harris all of the cash she had in her wallet as a reward.

“I think in our world we often jump to like the worst conclusion, and it just makes you realize that there are good people out there,” she told KCTV5.

Mr. Harris said he was simply acting how his reverend grandfather would expect him to.

“Thank the good Lord, it’s a blessing, but I do still have some character,” he told KCTV5.
