A 16-year-old pregnant Texan has filed a lawsuit to stop her parents from forcing her to have an abortion.
The teenager, identified in court papers as R.E.K., said her parents have been verbally and physically threatening her to abort her 9-week-old fetus, according to a report from Fox News.
“[Her father] stated he was going to take her to have an abortion and that the decision was his, end of story,” the teenager states in her court filing, according to Fox News. The girl also claims in court documents that her parents prevented her from going to school and confiscated both her phone and car, Fox News reports.
The judge has granted a temporary restraining order to prevent the abortion while the case goes forth.
