The conference is set for Western Connecticut State University, in Danbury. The location was chosen, said Sen. Richard Blumenthal – just one of the several Connecticut politicos who arranged the conference – due to its “symbolic significance,” the Associated Press reports.
Mr. Biden is expected to speak on President Obama’s new gun control policies. Those proposals include bans on assault-style weapons and on certain ammunition magazines.
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan is expected to attend, AP reports, as well as parents of one of the 20 children who were killed in the Dec. 14 shooting.
Adam Lanza, 20, open-fired at the Sandy Hook school in December, killing 20 students and six adults. He also killed his mother; the spree ended when he turned the gun on himself.
