‘Rolling gunbattle’ along Vegas Strip leaves 3 dead

It’s like a movie scene — only not. Fox News reports that a “rolling gunbattle” that took place in the midst of the Las Vegas Strip early this morning has left three dead and police searching for suspects.

Police say two cars engaged in a shootout as they drove down the Strip, leading to a multicar accident, KTNV in Las Vegas reported.

“It looks like they’re shooting a movie, but it is very real,” said Fox News anchor Martha MacCullum, referring to broadcast images of burned-out and smashed-up cars in the middle of a Vegas intersection. “It’s being called a rolling gunbattle. … This is very real.”

KTNV reports three people are dead and three others injured. The incident began around 4:20 a.m. with calls to police of shots fired in the streets. That report led to another report of a multicar accident in the middle of the Strip, near Flamingo Road, KTNV said.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard have been closed, KTNV reported.

A taxicab was completely burned. The passenger and driver in the cab were both shot, Fox News reported.

At a press conference this morning, police said they believe there was another car involved in the shooting, and a search for the suspect was ongoing.
