DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (AP) - Roberta Vinci advanced to the Dubai Championships semifinals by beating former U.S. Open champion Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-4 Thursday.
Stosur, who was broken twice in each set, had 28 unforced errors and an inconsistent service game. Her first serve percentage was only 58 percent in the second set and she faced eight break points.
Vinci, who beat sixth-ranked Angelique Kerber to reach the quarterfinals, could face doubles partner Sara Errani in the semifinals. Errani plays Nadia Petrova.
