An Alexandria police officer was seriously injured when he was shot while pulling over a cab during a traffic stop Wednesday.
The officer, who has not been identified by the police department, was shot at about 11:44 a.m. near St. Asaph and Wilkes Street in Old Town Alexandria.
After the shooting, the cab sped off along southbound Washington Street. Alexandria police pursued him and he fled into Fairfax County, where Fairfax County police continued the chase.
The man, who has not yet been named because charges are pending, was caught by police when the cab crashed.
