Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday his nation is ready to storm Israel and “wipe it out” if it dares launch at attack on Tehran.
Israel National News said Mr. Ahmadinejad made the statements in Egyptian press, during his visit to Cairo.
“The Zionists … hope to aggress Iran and attack it, but they are very afraid of the Iranian reaction and of the consequences of such an attack,” Mr. Ahmadinejad said, according to Israel National News.
“The people of Iran are ready to march on Israel and wipe it out if it launches into an adventure against Tehran,” the press also reported him as saying. Agence France-Presse said Mr. Ahmadinejad also claimed Iran’s “defense forces are capable of dissuading any aggressor and making him regret his act.”
Mr. Ahmadinejad was in part responding to Tuesday remarks made by Israeli President Shimon Peres. Mr. Peres then warned of the danger of a nuclear Iran and said it “threatens our existence, the independence of the Arab states, the peace of the whole world,” according to Israel National News.
