D.C. police on Thursday arrested a 35-year-old man in the District’s first homicide of the year.
Burnis Cole, of Southeast, is charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 10 fatal stabbing of 40-year-old Raasheem Jamal Rich.
Police said Rich, of Northeast, was stabbed outside a liquor store in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue Southeast during an argument.
The Metropolitan Police Department released video this week depicting three men whom detectives were trying to identify and to talk to about the killing. Police officials declined to say which of the three men was Mr. Cole but said investigators believe he is the person who stabbed Mr. Rich.
An investigation is ongoing to determine whether the other two men shown on the video are involved.
Mr. Cole was arrested Thursday morning but had not yet been arraigned in D.C. Superior Court.
