Google says “Gangnam Style,” the most popular song in YouTube history, has generated $8 million in advertising revenue for the company.
“Gangnam Style,” an international hit song from South Korean rapper Psy that was first uploaded to YouTube in July 2012, recently became the first song in the website’s history to reach 1 billion views.
Google’s Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora talked about the song’s success during Tuesday’s earnings call. YouTube is a subsidiary of Google.
