Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is hosting a fundraiser for N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, according to various media reports.
Mr. Zuckerberg and his wife are planning the event for next month in California. Mr. Zuckerberg first befriended Mr. Christie three years ago, when he donated $100 million to Newark’s public schools, Politico reports.
Mr. Christie is running a reelection campaign and was expected to face stiff competition from the popular Newark Democrat mayor, Cory Booker. Mr. Booker, however, has instead decided to seek a U.S. Senate seat in 2014.
“Mark and Priscilla … admire [Mr. Christie‘s] leadership on education reform and other issues,” a Facebook spokeswoman said, in the Politico report.
