New report: Shadow of sex scandal hovers over Sen. Menendez

Just hours after Sen. Robert Menendez’s office issued denials of the New Jersian’s dalliances with prostitutes in the Dominican Republican, a new report has surfaced bearing supposed first-hand knowledge of the alleged incidents.

The Daily Caller reports the existence of an email published nine months ago on the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington allegedly written by a Dominican woman who claimed to have engaged in relations with the 59-year old senator during sex parties hosted by one of his campaign donors, Dr. Salomen Melgen.

“That senator also likes the youngest and newest girls,” the emailer wrote in April 2002, according to The Daily Caller report. “In the beginning, he seemed so serious, because he never spoke to anyone, but he is just like the others and has just about the same tastes as the doctor, very refined.”

The Daily Caller did not disclose the emailer’s name — who wrote in Spanish and may have been underage at the reported time of alleged incident with Mr. Menendez. But CREW published her name, according to The Daily Caller, despite the emailer’s stated concerns for her safety over the email’s content.

The emailer claimed that she was an escort from an adult service, the Doll Palace, and that the code word “chocolate” meant she was being asked to appear at one of Dr. Melgen’s sex parties, The Daily Caller reported.

On Wednesday, according to The Associated Press, Mr. Menendez’s office said that he had traveled on Dr. Melgen’s plane on three separate occasions but that he had never attended sex parties in the Dominican Republic. The office statement assured that the senator’s trips were “paid for and reported appropriately.
