President Obama has only been skeet shooting twice at most, according to a source who has been to Camp David on at least a half-dozen trips with President Obama.
“The only time he shot skeet was for President’s Cup,” the source told Fox News, referring to a biennial shooting competition tradition involving the presidential Marine guards. “I was there. He stayed for about five minutes, and couldn’t leave fast enough.”
“He couldn’t have been more uncomfortable,” the source added.
The comments come after an Obama interview with the New Republic, where he said, “we do skeet shooting all the time” up at Camp David.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday that he’s not aware of how often President Obama goes skeet shooting and that, surprisingly, he’s never even seen a photo of the president holding a gun.
The president’s claim sparked widespread skepticism, with Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn even challenging him to a friendly skeet-shooting competition. The White House declined to comment.
