Associated Press article Monday describes George Zimmerman as ‘white’

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, July 16, 2013

As several public figures call for action by the Department of Justice into the possible violation of Trayvon Martin's civil rights, an article published by the Associated Press on Monday described the man who killed him, 29-year-old Hispanic George Zimmerman, as "white."

From July 15, courtesy of Breitbart News (emphasis added):

"The interview came two days after the six-woman jury acquitted Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch activist, of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Martin in a gated community in Sanford, Fla. Martin was black, and Zimmerman was white. Zimmerman was not arrested for 44 days, and the delay in charging him led to protests from those who believed race was a factor in the handling of the case."

The article, about a CNN interview given by a woman known as Juror B37, was later corrected to read "Hispanic" (emphasis added):

"The interview came two days after the six-woman jury acquitted Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch activist, of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Martin in a gated community in Sanford, Fla. Martin was black, and Zimmerman identifies himself as Hispanic. Zimmerman was not arrested for 44 days, and the delay in charging him led to protests from those who believed race was a factor in the handling of the case."
