Hezbollah to EU: Label Israel’s IDF a terror group

- The Washington Times - Friday, July 26, 2013

Just two days after the European Union voted to label the military wing of Hezbollah as a terror organization, the leader of the Shiite group asked the EU — why isn't Israel's military classified similarly?

"Europe has succumbed to pressure," said Hassan Nasrallah, at the tail end of a speech that was televised around Lebanon on Wednesday, Ynet News reported. "The Israeli's clearly stated that the decision was a result of their diplomatic efforts. It is clear that for them, this is a big victory and cause for joy."

The leader then wondered — what of Israel?

"Why don't you classify the State of Israel as a terror state? Why don't you classify Israel's military wing, the IDF [Israel Defense Forces], as a terror organization if you recognize Israel is occupying Arab lands and refuses to implement international decisions for decades now? The entire world bares witness to the massacres perpetrated by Israel," he said, Ynet News reported.

Mr. Nasrallah also faulted America and said, "Israel and the U.S. invested a lot in exerting pressure on Europe to embrace this position."
