Obama’s former chief of staff Bill Daley to run for Ill. governor

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Former U.S. Commerce Secretary and President Obama's former White House chief of staff Bill Daley confirmed Monday that he's definitely running for governor of Illinois next year.

"There is no exploratory piece in this anymore," the Democrat said in a campaign video released on YouTube.

Mr. Daley's campaign says he'll file the paperwork Tuesday with the Illinois State Board of Elections, CBS Chicago reported.

Incumbent Democrat Pat Quinn has said he'll run for reelection, and, so far, at least four Republicans are also in the race, CBS said.

Reuters reported that Mr. Quinn's polling numbers have been improving steadily since he was labeled the most unpopular governor in 2012.
