A 45-year-old man was fatally shot on the sidewalk Tuesday night in the Northeast D.C. Kingman Park neighborhood, police said Wednesday.

The man, Lawrence David Phillips of Southeast, was shot around 9:40 p.m. in the 400 block of 18th Street Northeast, about a half-mile from RFK Stadium. An acquaintance drove Mr. Phillips to a hospital where he died from his injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Late Tuesday, police described two male suspects in the shooting but had no further details about them on Wednesday.
