‘Sopranos’ star James Gandolfini dead at 51

James Gandolfini, the award-winning actor who played mob boss Tony Soprano in HBO's hit series "The Sopranos," has died following a massive heart attack in Italy, HBO announced Wednesday. He was 51.

"Everyone is in tears," a source close to actor told the New York Daily News.

Mr. Gandolfini also appeared in award-winning movies including "Get Shorty," "The Mexican" and "Zero Dark Thirty." The New Jersey native hit Broadway in 2009 with the Tony Award-winning comedy "God of Carnage," the Daily News reported.

Mr. Gandolfini is survived by his wife Deborah Lin and their daughter. He also has a teenage son from a previous marriage, TMZ said.
