A Bible that contained a message penned by German-born physicist Albert Einstein and his wife in 1932 sold at a New York City auction for $68,500.
The Bible had been a gift from Mr. Einstein to his American friend, Harriett Hamilton.
Mr. Einstein's inscription, BCS reported: The Bible "is a great source of wisdom and consolation and should be read frequently."
Auctioneers estimated the Bible would sell for $2,500, tops. The auction house, Bonham's, didn't disclose who bought it.
