18-year-old fatally shot in P.G. County

An 18-year-old Lewisdale man was fatally shot Thursday night in Prince George’s County.

Responding to a report of a shooting in the 7200 block of 24th Avenue in Lewisdale around 7 p.m., police found Meyder Bladimir Yuman in front of a home there suffering from a gunshot wound. Mr. Yuman lived about a half-mile from the location where he was shot.

Police on Friday were investigating the motive. Investigators did not reveal details about the suspects in the case, except to say that people got out of a gold or tan 4-door Toyota Corolla and approached Mr. Yuman as he walked down the street. There was a confrontation between the group and Mr. Yuman and he was shot.

County school officials confirmed that Mr. Yuman was not currently enrolled in school, though it was unclear if he had ever attended classes with the public school system. Six Prince George’s County Public Schools students have been slain since the beginning of the school year, as well as an 18-year-old who had recently withdrawn from school.

One of the slain students, 14-year-old Eliezer Reyes, was gunned down in December in a gang-related drive-by shooting near his Lewisdale home.
