President Obama arrived in Ramallah on Thursday morning for a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The meeting comes at a time when Palestinians are pushing Mr. Obama to ratchet up his involvement with peace talks. The White House, meanwhile, insists its presence in Israel is aimed solely at furthering political relations with the newly seated government.

BBC says Mr. Obama is expected to spend several hours with Mr. Abbas, and talks are likely to focus on Israeli-Palestinian conflicts. Wednesday, Mr. Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu both expressed continued interest in a two-state solution, BBC says.
